About Us
The birth of modern-day Lifeboat Community Church began with the salvation of Lucy Hooper in Avon, NC in 1926 followed by a 1931 Salvo prayer meeting and the 1933 shipwreck of the schooner G.A. Kohler just down the water from Salvo. Following the construction of the church house by Lucy and other villagers, Rob Douglas held the first service on October 6, 1935. Soon after, Lucy Hooper held the pastoral position for over 30 years. Though numerous pastors have come and gone, the shipwrecked schooner still stands as a testament to the redemptive beauty of our Lifeboat Community Church.
Meet Our Team

David and Kay Daniels
Lead Pastors
We are grateful to our current and seasoned pastoral team of Pastor David and Sister Kay Daniels, local pillars of the faith and the Assemblies of God network of churches to which we belong. Their dedication to the ministry of Jesus Christ involves church planting, overseas evangelism, and international student ministry, among other avenues. Their reach is both deep and expansive. Together, they have exemplified dynamic teamwork and effectiveness in training up the next generation in ministerial service and Jesus-focused leadership.

Kristen Dalton
Lead Teacher
Growing up a preacher's kid (PK), Kristen started learning about service and ministry at an early age. After years of running from church life, community, and true surrender to God, she returned to the root of ministry, servanthood, and a restructured understanding of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Kristen now uses what she has been given and the lessons she has been taught to help others understand how the entirety of the Bible connects and relates to itself and thus validates itself.

Kathy Pettit
Secretary
Above and beyond the call of service is one of the ways to define Kathy. She has been faithfully dedicated to ensuring the daily functionality of the church. She keeps the books straight but does so much more for our church family. Kathy is an integral part our team. We are grateful to have her.
