About us

The birthing of modern-day Lifeboat Community Church began with the salvation of Lucy Hooper in Avon, NC in 1926 followed by a 1931 Salvo prayer meeting and the 1933 shipwreck of the schooner G.A. Kohler just down the water from Salvo. Following the construction of the church house by Lucy and other villagers, Rob Douglas held the first service on October 6, 1935. Soon after, Lucy Hooper held the pastoral position for over 30 years.

Though numerous pastors have come and gone, the shipwrecked schooner still stands as a testament to the redemptive beauty of our Lifeboat Community Church. We are grateful to our current and seasoned pastoral team of Pastor David and Sister Kay Daniels, local pillars of the faith and the Assemblies of God network of churches to which we belong.
